2017 is officially here, and with it is my resolution to hit my goal weight. No more messing around! I told you all I had a plan, right? Well, I do! First, let me say, I still am not going on a diet! I do have a few changes in mind for 2017 and we’ll see how they pan out. The first, is a green smoothie cleanse. I am doing this for seven days, just to really get back into the swing of things after the holidays, and hopefully get some of the toxins out of my system.
It’s not just smoothies, I am also eating fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and hard boiled eggs. It seemed like a strange combination to me, with the eggs, but I think that they help, by adding some protein in.
I bought the book because there are dozens of smoothie recipes, and the nice thing is, there is a modified version, as well as a maintenance plan, which actually looks a lot similar to the way I strive to eat on a daily basis. The author states more than once that she also does not believe in diets, but that she believes in changing your lifestyle. That this is the first step to doing so, to clean out your system and get it ready for permanent health and weight loss. Does it have to be this extreme? Maybe not, but it was definitely a motivator for me.
I’m only doing seven days because I have another program getting ready to start. I’ll do a post on how the whole thing works for me one I’m done, on day three though. I feel pretty good and I’ve lost four pounds. It’s Christmas weight, but it still counts. I’m the one who decided to eat my weight in truffles that the mailman brought home from one of his customers.
Starting on the 9th, I am dong a six week program that encompasses three cross fit workouts per week, and a nutritional plan as well. I think the plan is a Paleo plan, which is also known as the caveman way of eating. Similar to the Whole 30 approach. I don’t want to call it a diet. This is where the focus is on meat, fruits, veggies. No wheat or grains, no beans or legumes, no dairy. I’ve never eaten like this before, so I will give it a try and see how it makes me feel. Again, I’m not a huge proponent of diets and plans that restrict whole food groups, or are restrictive in general, but I am willing to follow the plan in order to participate fully in the program.
The nice thing is that I will be able to get body fat measurements before and after. I will be working with a group of women who are a similar situation to my own. And I will finally be facing my gym phobia, which is big for me. I’m not going to live my life scared anymore.
So, I have the first seven weeks of the year mapped out. Once I am finished with those, I am going to look at my results at make another plan accordingly. I’ll see how the Paleo eating worked for me and if I think it’s sustainable. If not, I’ll go back to my usual clean eating plan, which is similar, but does include some rice, whole wheat, beans, and the occasional dairy. Or I’ll make a modified version of the two. I have to be able to tweak and change my plans as I go along!
I will let all of you know how everything goes as well! Let me know how your resolutions are going!
